Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is a branch campus of Carnegie Mellon University, chartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The university is an independent non-profit organization operated by a Board of Trustees. Carnegie Mellon University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Carnegie Mellon has a holistic admission process that evaluates students on four main areas: high school performance, extracurricular contributions, demonstrated interest and standardized test results. Carnegie Mellon officials look for students who are a good fit for the university who will add to the overall Carnegie Mellon community. As an independent university, Carnegie Mellon's students are selected for admission solely by CMU officials. All graduates of Carnegie Mellon Qatar receive their degrees from Carnegie Mellon University. Students are awarded the same diploma in Qatar as on the main campus.
